Iris · 鸢尾花

Nearly square and roughly two metres across, this is one of the late works in which the pond, the flowers and the reflections stop resolving into separate things. It was still in the studio when Monet died.

About the work

Left in the Giverny studio in 1926; sold through Katia Granoff in the 1950s; bought by the Art Institute of Chicago in 1956.
