Hinweis zu den Werken

1. Reproductions, not originals

Every physical item sold on this site is a reproduction printed on canvas. None is an original painting, a work on paper, a signed print or a numbered edition. No certificate, token or record issued by us changes that.

If a listing is ever misread as offering an original, the correct reading is the one in this section.

2. Public domain status

Claude Monet died on 5 December 1926. His works are in the public domain in the United States, the European Union and the other jurisdictions where the copyright term has expired.

Public domain status applies to the painting itself. Photographic reproductions of two-dimensional public-domain works are treated as public domain in the United States following Bridgeman v. Corel, but some institutions elsewhere assert rights over their own photography. Where that is the case we use a different source or a licensed file.

3. Colour and image accuracy

On-screen images are approximations. Canvas texture, ink behaviour and ambient light all affect how a print reads in a room. We colour-manage files to the painting rather than to a screen, which means a print can look quieter than a photograph of the same painting.

4. Attribution and titles

Titles follow the holding institution. Where a work is known by several names — in French, English or Chinese — the alternates are listed on the work page. Dating follows the museum catalogue; Monet reworked canvases over years, so a single year can be a simplification.

5. No appraisal or investment advice

Nothing on this site is an appraisal, a valuation or investment advice. Reproduction prints do not appreciate and should not be bought as financial assets.

6. Editorial independence

Reference articles are written by us and are not reviewed or endorsed by any museum named on this site. Museums are named as the holders of the original works, nothing more.
